Sticky toffee pudding has become one of my favorite desserts. I first had it back in Culinary School when a friend of mine made it for the class, it was delicious!! I wasn’t a big fan of dates but this dessert blew me away and I just had to make it.
For those not familiar with sticky Toffee pudding its a British dessert sponge cake made with finely chopped dates and covered with a toffee sauce served with a vanilla custard sauce or ice-cream. I decide to that I just had to make it, I found a recipe on Foodnetwork.com that I like and went for it. I had some dates I bought a few months back that were already finely chopped so I used them.
The sponge was very easy to make, as the cake baked I made the toffee sauce which was simply sugar, butter and heavy cream. This was my first time making a toffee sauce so I follow the recipe as directed until the sauce was thick, however also keeping in mind that as the sauce cooled it would thicken up more. The results were beautiful and it came out great !
I served my sticky toffee pudding with some fresh whipped cream, this dessert is sure to please your family and friends. My family loved it so much they wanted seconds, next time ill make two cakes. Happy Cooking and try something new.
