Limes not just for Margaritas!! Here I like my limes just a bit more sweeter, sweet like me. I really wanted to make a Key lime pie but lets be real who could find them at their local supermarkets? So I use the next best thing “Limes.” Limes are easy and can be found pretty much everywhere. I bought mine from my local supermarket and got about a pound of them. The cashier asked me if I was planning on making Margaritas I told him , “no sir, I’m making Pie”! He gave me a confused lookRead More →

After having a family taco Tuesday, I noticed that there was some extra left over sour cream in the refrigerator. Well since taco Tuesday is now once a month I knew that I just had to put that sour cream in use. Sour cream is a great ingredient in baking or cooking, I especially enjoy it in bake goods such as cakes, and biscuits. I hate to see food go to waste so I searched for recipes with sour cream and of course I chose to go with cake. I found one recipe that seem pretty easy to make but the only problem was thatRead More →

Every now and then I always crave something sweet, sometimes my sweet tooth gets a bit out of hand. So when I am at home I like to bake substituting healthier ingredients into my bake goods. I love having coconut oil on hand whenever possible, its such a great alternative in bake goods. However sometimes using butter is good too. So this week has been a very busy week for me I haven’t had much time for myself but today was an exception. I got home a bit early today and of course tired and all I wanted to have something sweet after my dinner. IRead More →

Making homemade granola can sound like an daunting task, I should know. It never occurred to me that making granola at home is way better than buying it at the store. There are great brands out there that sell granola, but Why should you buy it already made ? I prefer making it at home because I know exactly whats going in my granola, and customizing it is such a fun perk. I decided I wanted to make granola at home after seeing my mother stock up on cheap granola cereals, made with ingredients that I could not understand. I told her to throw them away becauseRead More →

The other day I  juice at home, I had some left over oranges and lemon peels. I felt a little guilty just throwing it away, so the Chef in me decided that I was going to make some  Orange/Lemon syrup! I knew that making a syrup would come in handy especially in my bake goods.  I had about 2lbs of orange and lemon peels leftover from my juicing. For every pound of citrus peel I was going to use a cup of sugar. So I muddled the citrus and sugar together, making sure that I extracted as much juice from the peels as I could.Read More →

Sticky toffee pudding has become one of my favorite desserts. I first had it back in Culinary School when a friend of mine made it for the class, it was delicious!! I wasn’t a big fan of dates but this dessert blew me away and I just had to make it.     For those not familiar with sticky Toffee pudding its a British dessert sponge cake made with finely chopped dates and covered with a toffee sauce served with a vanilla custard sauce or ice-cream. I decide to that I just had to make it, I found a recipe on Foodnetwork.com that I like andRead More →

I have found my love for bake cake doughnuts, they’re delicious and easier than fry ones. Making these are a breeze especially when you want to impress your family or friends. I decided on whipping up a batch of these bake doughnuts using sour cream. Sour cream added texture and gave me a more moist cake doughnut, plus I really didn’t want it to go to waste. These doughnuts were quick and easy they only took about 12 mins to bake. I used a mini cake doughnut pan and baked the doughnuts in batches. They can be baked in bigger doughnut pans as well.
